About the Ultrascope line of products:
UltraScopes are pressure sensitive stethoscopes for assessment of heart / lung sounds in patients and animals. The UltraScope head is machined from an extremely crack resistant modern plastic. The head, tubing and binaural assembly filters external noises while amplifying heart / lung sounds without batteries or electronics. Each head is completely manufactured in the United States and is individually designed, therefore no two are exactly alike. Frequency range 20-35 kHz. Adult head dimension: 2” diameter.
About the Ultrascope warranty:
UltraScope is pleased to offer you a Lifetime Warranty against defects in workmanship and materials. This warranty includes the head, eartip, diaphragm, and diaphragm retaining ring. Degradation of the binaural tubing due to bodily oils is not considered a defect, nor is premature aging of the tubing material, diaphragm or eartips caused by improper cleaning. Your warranty

Frequently Asked Questions About Littmann Stethoscopes
Q. I can’t hear anything out of my stethoscope. What is wrong with it?
A. If the acoustic performance seems to be lacking or absent, the following areas should be checked before assuming there is a problem with the stethoscope:- Proper Headset Alignment - 3M™ Littmann® Stethoscopes have headsets which have been designed to be worn at an anatomically correct angle, oriented towards the user's ear canals. Wearing the stethoscope headset incorrectly can result in poor acoustic seal, and in some cases, complete sound blockage.
- Before placing the eartips in your ears, hold the stethoscope headset in front of you so that the eartubes point away from you. When the eartips are in your ears, the eartips should be pointed forwards.
- Not everyone's ear canals are the same. If after inserting the eartips in a proper manner, the fit does not seem comfortable and acoustic

Littmann Eartips
A variety of eartips are available for use with Littmann stethoscopes. Littmann Snap-tight eartips are available for newer Littmann stethoscopes, while threaded eartips are available for Littmann stethoscopes manufactured before May 1994.
Littmann eartips offer excellent acoustic seal, increased comfort, durability, and a tighter fit to your new or existing Littmann stethoscope.
A redesigned ribbed eartube on all new Littmann stethoscopes offers a Snap-tight fit that won't loosen during routine use. For Littmann stethoscopes manufactured before May 1994, a threaded eartip design is employed for a more secure fit. Snap-tight and threaded soft-sealing eartips both feature a surface treatment that increases surface lubricity for better performance and easier care. -

Short vs. long tubing
Quite often health care workers raise questions regarding stethoscope tubing length based on early publications claiming shorter tubing length provides better acoustic response. Some instructors have recommended their students buy the shortest tubing possible. In an attempt to clarify the information surrounding tubing length, Littmann stethoscopes has tested their product line to offer the following information about tubing length.
To explain our test results, it will be helpful to compare the tubing of the stethoscope to a garden hose. For example, an increase in the length of a garden hose will decrease the pressure at the end of the hose as a result of frictional and other internal forces. The same effect occurs when the tubing length of a stethoscope is increased. However, in the case of stethoscope tubing, change in length is relatively small; this decrease in acoustic pressure is not detectable by the human ear.
