Auscultation enters the digital age with the new 3M™ Littmann® Electronic Stethoscope Model 4000

3M, the world's leading manufacturer of stethoscopes, and Bang and Olufsen Medicom, one of the world's leading producers of sound systems, have developed a revolutionary new electronic stethoscope.

Offering state-of-the-art amplification, processing and recording, the Model 4000 combines the traditional excellence of 3M™ Littmann® Stethoscopes with cutting-edge digital innovation.

With amplification up to 18 times greater than most advanced conventional stethoscopes, the Model 4000 is specially designed for difficult-to-hear heart, lung and other body sounds.

Three frequency modes are available:

  • bell (20-200 Hz)
  • diaphragm (100-500 Hz)
  • extended range (20-1000Hz)

This new electronic stethoscope has the looks and handling of classic stethoscope design and at 220g, offers just the right weight for well-balanced handling. Designed for patients of all ages, it offers the following additional features:

  • recording, storage and playback capabilities for six different auscultations, up to eight seconds each
  • instant playback of recordings at normal and half speed
  • infrared data transmission of recorded sounds to another model 4000 or IBM-compatible PC
  • user-friendly PC software CD, developed specifically to make storage and retrieval of recorded patient body sounds easy

Maintaining the style, quality and comfort associated with the Littmann stethoscope range, the Model 4000 stethoscope also comes with:

  • soft sealing ear tips for acoustic seal and ease of wearing
  • a double leaf binaural spring allowing better flexibility without breaking
  • lightweight alloy ear tubes for overall convenience.

All of these features combine to provide an effective electronic tool for detection, recording and storage of heart, lung and other body sounds.
